The connected future of T&E management in Europe

Report Cover

Business travel is entering a new era. It is becoming more strategic, more closely connected to business outcomes and more important to how organisations build relationships and pursue growth. Yet the systems supporting it have not kept pace. The future of travel and expense (T&E) lies in connected models that combine consumer-grade experiences for employees with real-time visibility, embedded control and intelligent automation for the organisation. To better understand this and the future of T&E, Mastercard surveyed 1,773 T&E decision-makers at large B2B companies worldwide, including 503 in Europe.

The findings highlight four key strategic shifts:

  • Business travel is becoming more intentional, increasing pressure to modernise T&E
  • The current model is struggling to keep pace
  • Corporate card programmes are emerging as the control layer of modern T&E.
  • AI is accelerating the shift towards real-time T&E.
