Online retail sales climbed 32.4% year over year in 2020 and increased 39% in Q1 2021, according to reports. As e-commerce sales rise, so does the demand for logistics and delivery services, which in turn raises the demand for packing materials. Some of these businesses aren't being as environmentally conscious as they could be when it comes to the packaging they use for deliveries. According to Statista, the packaging of goods accounts for nearly half of all greenhouse gas emissions generated by the ecommerce industry, accounting for about 45% of estimated emissions.
